Ormoc City is the economic base is good mixture of agriculture, aquaculture, industry, tourism and commercial services. Sugar cane, rice and pineapple is the bulk production of the agricultural sector. The city is enjoying economic growth for the country to supply all its power because of the abundant resources in Tongonan geothermal needs and neighboring town of Kananga.

Ormoc is also the gateway to the Leyte Industrial Development Estate in the nearby town of Isabel, home Philippine Phosphate Fertilizer Plant, the largest fertilizer factory in Asia, and the Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining Company, the country’s biggest copper processing plant, among other industries.
